Performing Opportunities
Advanced dancers and students
have the opportunity to train and perform in four major
productions each year through membership in the Highlands
Ballet Company.
Our mission is to nurture
and provide support and inspiration for young and aspiring
dancers in a wholesome and friendly atmosphere...and to
bring to students of dance, training at a level of technical
and artistic excellence.
The performing season
The Highlands Ballet
Company now includes a multimedia production, featuring the
inspiring short story by Charles Dickens' "A Christmas
Carol.” The HBC now presents four major productions
each year. Among other favorite classics
are “Coppelia,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The
Nutcracker,” and “A Midsummer Night’s
Dream.” Versatility and originality are
the key ingredients for the Highlands
Ballet Company.
Contemporary Works
Audience favorites in
the ever popular theater dance genre are “A Chorus
Line”, “Americans In Paris,” “Grease
Lightning,” “On the Trail,” and “American
As Apple Pie.”
Original full length ballets consistently
continue to be our hallmark and include “In Celtic
Days" , "Gershwin by George,” . “A
Native American Odyssey”, “Appalachian Sunshine,” and “Echoes”. Lecture
Demonstrations, workshops, and outreach work for
schools, clubs, youth groups and other organizations are
a part of the mission. The Highlands Ballet Company is
a also a proud participant in the Prestigious Virginia Highlands
Festival.
